Cape Town City Tour Description:

Your Cape Town City tour starts with a visit to one of the new official 7 wonders of nature; and the most famous City landmark of Table Mountain.  After a short ride up the cable car you will experience 360° breath-taking views of the ‘Mother City’ (weather permitting), alternatively we drive to the top of Signal Hill.Your Cape Town City tour then continues to the Castle of Good Hope, built between 1666 and 1679 by the Dutch East India Company (VOC) as a maritime replenishment Station, the Castle of Good Hope is the oldest surviving colonial building in South Africa.

We then take a historic drive through the city and your guide will point out various land marks, e.g. Company Gardens, Houses of Parliament, Greenmarket Square to name but a few.  We then arrive at the Bo-Kaap area of Cape Town, formerly known as the Malay Quarter. It is quintessentially a Township, situated on the slopes of Signal Hill above the city centre and is an historical centre of Cape Malay culture in Cape Town.

Your Cape Town City tour then takes us up Signal Hill for the firing of the noon day gun.  The daily noon gun (cannon) is not only Cape Town’s oldest living tradition, but the guns used (there are two of them, just in case one of them fails) are two of the oldest in the world still in daily use.

Your Cape Town City tour then continues for a lunch time stop off at Greenmarket Square, the oldest market in the city.  Set on a cobbled square between Short and Long Market Streets you will find Capetonians buying their clothing, jewellery, sandals, crafts and nick-nacks as they have done for years.  Greenmarket Square is bordered by a selection of restaurants and cafés that give ample opportunity to people-watch while enjoying lunch (own account).

After lunch our next destination is a tour of 2010 World Cup Stadium, since its completion the new Cape Town Stadium has become an iconic landmark.  It’s soon to be the new home of our local rugby team “The Stormers” as well as being used for other major event’s.

Your Cape Town City tour’s last destination is a tour of Diamond Works where you are given the opportunity to experience the fascinating world of Diamonds and Jewellery Manufacturing.  Enjoy a glass of South African Sparkling wine whilst you discover the 4 C’s of Diamonds and the history behind the world’s most sought after gemstone.

Your Cape Town City tour is then complete!
